republicans and banking

"...we haven't had a hundred billion dollar banking crisis, which will surely require a taxpayer bailout, in almost twentyyears!

Not since Reagan and Bush I de-regulated the Savings and Loan industry, while brave, straight talking, ethical Congressmen like John McCain leaned on regulators to back off from doing more.

Because, remember, as Sainted Ronny Rotten used to tell us: government is not a solution to our problems, government is the problem!

So Reagan and the Reagan Republicans took that pesky ol' gubment out of the Savings and Loan industry and let the miracle of the Free And Unfettered Market work its magic. And within a couple of years, taxpayers had to come up with one hundred and twenty billion dollars--and those are 1980s dollars--as a solution to our problem."

in case you didn't read the link...

"Contrary to the nuclear industry's propaganda, nuclear power is therefore not green and it is certainly not clean. Nuclear reactors consistently release millions of curies of radioactive isotopes into the air and water each year. These releases are unregulated because the nuclear industry considers these particular radioactive elements to be biologically inconsequential. This is not so.

These unregulated isotopes include the noble gases krypton, xenon and argon, which are fat-soluble and if inhaled by persons living near a nuclear reactor, are absorbed through the lungs, migrating to the fatty tissues of the body, including the abdominal fat pad and upper thighs, near the reproductive organs. These radioactive elements, which emit high-energy gamma radiation, can mutate the genes in the eggs and sperm and cause genetic disease."

The incubation time for cancer is five to 50 years following exposure to radiation. It is important to note that children, old people and immuno-compromised individuals are many times more sensitive to the malignant effects of radiation than other people.

I will describe four of the most dangerous elements made in nuclear power plants:

Iodine 131, which was released at the nuclear accidents at Sellafield in Britain, Chernobyl in Ukraine and Three Mile Island in the US, is radioactive for only six weeks and it bio-concentrates in leafy vegetables and milk. When it enters the human body via the gut and the lung, it migrates to the thyroid gland in the neck, where it can later induce thyroid cancer. In Belarus more than 2000 children have had their thyroids removed for thyroid cancer, a situation never before recorded in pediatric literature.

Strontium 90 lasts for 600 years. As a calcium analogue, it concentrates in cow and goat milk. It accumulates in the human breast during lactation, and in bone, where it can later induce breast cancer, bone cancer and leukemia.

Cesium 137, which also lasts for 600 years, concentrates in the food chain, particularly meat. On entering the human body, it locates in muscle, where it can induce a malignant muscle cancer called a sarcoma.

Plutonium 239, one of the most dangerous elements known to humans, is so toxic that one-millionth of a gram is carcinogenic. More than 200kg is made annually in each 1000-megawatt nuclear power plant. Plutonium is handled like iron in the body, and is therefore stored in the liver, where it causes liver cancer, and in the bone, where it can induce bone cancer and blood malignancies. On inhalation it causes lung cancer. It also crosses the placenta, where, like the drug thalidomide, it can cause severe congenital deformities. Plutonium has a predisposition for the testicle, where it can cause testicular cancer and induce genetic diseases in future generations. Plutonium lasts for 500,000 years, living on to induce cancer and genetic diseases in future generations of plants, animals and humans."

Gore Vidal’s Article of Impeachment

"On June 9, 2008, a counterrevolution began on the floor of the House of Representatives against the gas and oil crooks who had seized control of the federal government. This counterrevolution began in the exact place which had slumbered during the all-out assault on our liberties and the Constitution itself.

I wish to draw the attention of the blog world to Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s articles of impeachment presented to the House in order that two faithless public servants be removed from office for crimes against the American people."

it is always interesting to read someone who speaks with the authentic voice of america's "founding fathers."

not some moron pussy named hannity.

MCCAIN"S ATOMIC ENEMA (candidate loses mind, proposes large, cancerous, atomic enema for nation's energy woes)

i will say that i like alternative realities.   whether they are created by drugs, internet, movies, meditation, i'm in.

but this maccainian alternative reality...45 new nuclear power plants.  jesus, this sounds like the delusional rantings of an old man on large amounts of brutal medication.  what the hell is in the water down there in arizona?   mccain has always been creepy, but insane?

tell me it ain't so leo...

this former shithead/crook is turning into a jabbering nimrod right before our very eyes.

where do we put all these future chernobyl's?

i've got an idea...we can build them into the wealthiest 1%'s palatial homes.  after the systematic raping of our nation's coffures by the reagan/bush/bush (dildo/snatch/pussy) administrations, they have the room.

boy, do they have the room.

we don't even have to pay them.  just offer them a deal:

  • let us place our chernobyl II where you were planning to build your "servant quarters", or
  • pay pre-reagan taxes...on everything.

you know, leo, the wealthiest and most furtunate paid PROGRESSIVE TAXES back when they gave a shit about the country/government that so enriched them.

before they turned into the greedy, conniving scum that they now, inarguably, are.

one more for the oil faddists

ok, last post on this today...

"There are still plenty of creationists around, and there are people who believe tobacco is not linked to serious health effects, and so there are still people who choose to ignore or doubt the amount of evidence for climate change."

mccains offshore drilling hoax

It is cruel to mislead the public on a subject that matters so much to all Americans. If only we had a politician willing to engage in straight talk on this important issue.

obituaries

i sent these links recently to remind certain people...of the power of the pen.

it's true: scum like these do not deserve a break, even in their "shameless" deaths.

to whit:

"If the right people had been in charge of Nixon's funeral, his casket would have been launched into one of those open-sewage canals that empty into the ocean just south of Los Angeles. He was a swine of a man and a jabbering dupe of a president. Nixon was so crooked that he needed servants to help him screw his pants on every morning. Even his funeral was illegal. He was queer in the deepest way. His body should have been burned in a trash bin."  HST

THAT is good stuff folks...

on to the links:

it's interesting to note the similarities between all.

hmmm.

oil, again

"In fact, the whole invasion is a war crime — indeed the supreme international crime, differing from other war crimes in that it encompasses all the evil that follows, in the terms of the Nuremberg judgment. This is among the topics that can't be discussed, in the presidential campaign or elsewhere. Why are we in Iraq? What do we owe Iraqis for destroying their country? The majority of the American people favour US withdrawal from Iraq. Do their voices matter?"  Chomsky

witless weasels

from Adirondack Train 69

you know, as i ride up the hudson on a train, i'm reminded of the krabi province in thailand from where i just returned.

a gentle mist half covers mountains that will grow up to be the catskills.

as one becomes aware of the serene beauty of upstate ny, one cannot be faulted for thinking, "possibly this would best be kept secret"

it was a long trip and i am only now able to contemplate any of it...first i must rid myself of this bug infested backpack...it is like fucking kryptonite.  i'm damned scared of the thing and nyc is no place to attempt a scuttling.

...tried to do it at penn station but the cops and other, newly crowned, cop-like passengers began to look at me strangely.

in the background, ominous loudspeaker announcements were ordering the populace to watch for "suspicious luggage" and report any "unusual activity".

...and me trying to unload this freakin backpack to the nearest trash receptacle.

which was, as you can imagine, a metaphysical impossibility of the highest order.

a well armed, short, fat cop (of the train station security genus), stood directly behind me for 15 minutes or so, attempting menace and achieving something less.

he had many strange weapons that interested me, but i was distracted by my goddamn pack, and didn't engage him in conversation...which would have relaxed the dupe.

..."hey, what kind of taser you got there?"

"oh shit, a Nigger Killer 451 by White Bounty, how many volts"

and so on...

i missed the chance to make a friend.

i was, i must concede, obviously and suspiciously looped after being awake for 2 days. i'd been riding demonically fast mopeds, planes, monorails, buses and trains all over southeast asia and i was getting weird.

i admit it.

now the rub.

i think we are the only "most powerful country on earth" that has ever acted in this manner (paranoid delusional)

feel free to check on this for me--

why do other nations, with more attacks and more troubles, just bravely move on.

in thailand and malaysia and bali, threatened with ACTUAL internal terrorists, travel is trouble free...no goddamn announcements commanding you to become a government spy.

that is the thing...

and it's bugging me more than my backpack.

since returning, i notice how hare-like and witless most americans are in comparison to the poorest nations.

they are completely ill at ease, walk too fast, act like the world is revolving around their inane "cellphone" or idiotic "business" conversations...

stupid in a heartbreaking way.

in a cruel and vicious way.

possibly, i've seen this within myself and it has caused me some consternation and much loathing when i see it on a national scale.

why do we act this way and who is training us to do these things?

we must ferret out these scoundrels, these "suze ormonds" of the world, who teach us to be cruel and hate.

they are witless, mean weasels.

they should be shot, skinned and hung out to dry from the nearest flagpole...at half mast of course.

after all, we DO have morals.

refined piss, carpet bombing

i'm sitting at this preposterous airport, if it can be called such.

actually it's the malaysian equivalent of biosphere 3

...or 2.  however many of those things they built.

do you know that the "scientists" drank their own piss?

it was recycled and refined, of course.  but still...piss.

refined, drinkable piss.

that was one of the smaller consequences of trying to establish a habitable, post oil boom, virtual earth.

but this fucking edifice...impressive.

and a "world's #1 airport" plastered everywhere.

"world's #1 green airport"...great stuff

i am in a hermetically sealed quasi-environment with perfect people, perfect sound and the hint of trickling water from artificial waterfalls tinkling my erogenous zones.

...like the mountain stream's dulcet tones that old moonshiners and hillbillies warble on about in their shitty, inbred, bluegrass songs.

how can i be here?

this IS disney's wet dream...

take the earth, demolish all possibility of inhabiting it, then create a perfect, idealized version of it for rich white folks to live in.

heady stuff...think scottsdale.  and think very, very hard.

honestly, it's true.

but...

i believe there is a way out of this morass.  if only the dumb, white niggers would listen.

progress...remember that word.

not maintenance...a low game invented for rubes and nut-suckers.

progess...

as in progressive-

as in forward thinking-

as in inventive-

as in creative-

initiative...not to tweak the broken system for a few more bucks.

but to initiate a healing for the last 50 years of fossil fuel driven nonsense.

power ain't free baby and life is hard in the real bush.

big fucking bugs eat you alive and snakes are about.

i've got welts all over my body right now...and a slight case of montezuma's revenge.

in thailand!!!  dear god, how can it happen?!!!!

you remember that, don't you leo?

those half-fucked nights in puerto rico or brazil where you ate something funny?

or drank some "local"  tequila with a crazy dark wench.

ahh, but i digress.

oh yes, "real living":  this is still the same for 95% of the planet, most of who have been bombed or forced at gunpoint to bow down to the west's maniacal, oil drunk views about "economy" and "growth"

but thailand...

how have they survived with their proud culture somewhat intact?

one thai said to me  "you say to thai "raise your right hand" we raise right hand, you say "raise your left" we raise left"

shit, i guess that was the key to not becoming vietnam or cambodia.

you know, it was nixon's illegal incursions and carpet bombing of cambodia that allowed pol pot to ascend to power.

boy, that was fun...big fun.

jesus have you ever read about that stuff?

if you think i'm twisted...holy fucking shit.

i'm just a half-cocked, semi-reasonable white boy trying to survive the impending apocalypse with style.

and i won't become a goddamn chink to do it.

peace,

sebastian

break down

i'm watching kid rock sell boats and cars on the canadian music channel.

apparently, canada is not immune to such things...jesus, he's a stupid, ugly fuck.

what a colossal waste of tape.

ronald reagan was a failure of a man who ratted out some of hollywood's most talented writers during the "commie scare" of the 50's.  he was run out of hollywood on a rail and landed in the cosy arms of general electric where he sold the good life...i.e. general electric's numerous, useless products that made life so much "easier" in the 50's and 60's.

easier on who?

you got me.  certainly not 3rd world countries with oil.

while shoveling this shit for "good ole' g.e.", reagan caught the attention of the san clemente republican enclave; a brutal, fascist bunch of hillbillies with cash.  they were looking for a way to insure that california remained "friendly" to their ideas of endless growth and consumerism.

(a fascinating side note here:  nancy reagan (nee davis) was known for giving the best head in hollywood.  "just say yes" nancy was coveted by all the studio execs and, ahem, ronnie himself.  this would seem to give the old boy some cache, especially when one utilizes the "clintonian scale" for measuring presidential "greatness".)

anyway,

the aspiring goebbels' of san clemente had a "new vision" for america.

sounds familiar, eh?

they had found their salesman...the only thing they needed was a fake ranch.

the rest, as my pal leo once said, is history.

ok, so back to the post;  jesus where the fuck am i...

oh yeah,

the photo above was taken by my sister at parangtritis beach near yogyakarta.

i had a nervous breakdown there.

the hideous pollution, the infestation of smog-belching mopeds and the fact that muslim woman swam fully clothed began to gnaw away at any sense of decency or reality.

i began to lose it, seriously.

the beach was a black turd, demolished by the vehicular onslaught.  the kids all wore black, shitty, 80's metal t-shirts as they determinedly drove their black mopeds to the edge of oblivion.  a serene 40 mph wind blew the black sand into my eyes as i watched a kid attempt to drive his moped next to the water to avoid walking.

actually, he was digging a giant trench along the water as a putrid blue smoke belched from the back of his machine.

i began to yell at no one in particular, shouting and jabbering.  screaming at the little demons on the mopeds, the cows, the chickens...even a horse.

it was all evil shit.

eventually, i calmed my jangled nerves with several "large" or "big bintang's",  the local beer, served to me, cold, by a toothless crone.  it was then, and only then, that i was able to gain some perspective, a foothold on sanity.

it was instructive, really, and in a way that only pain can confer upon our limited knowledge of such things.

parangtritis was kind of like a myrtle beach with no government or infrastructure...and no gratuitous nudity to round off the hard edges.

so this is what america will look like if fuck-wad libertarians/corporations have their way.

this was the end towards which the reagan/bush/bush (dildo/snatch/pussy) administrations worked...

nothing less than the bankruptcy off all branches of government not directly involved with:
  1. the bombing of "lesser" peoples.
  2. the close monitoring of our own people.

but, as neil young once almost said, don't let it drag you down.

there were lighter moments as we walked around the bleak post-apocalyptic moonscape.

such as: meeting an old man and his grand-daughter (pictured above).

before the japanese dumped millions of mopeds on indonesia he was "headman".

big man of the village.

he said, "it used to be pretty here, many people would come and visit...no more...now just the mopeds and pollution"

they were kind enough to allow us to photograph them with two of their cats.
